Pioneer, Tomahawk, Lydick, Leigh, Satre, Western & Calvin Paving

Completed: No
Jurisdiction: City of Eugene Mode: Road
Pedestrian
Description:

• These streets are in the vicinity of Coburg Road and Harlow Road.
• With the exception of Calvin Street, these residential streets have severe pavement deterioration due to age. The asphalt pavement will be milled, compacted in place, and then overlaid with new pavement.
• Calvin Street is moderately distressed and will be resurfaced between Harlow Road and Western Drive.
• The project will also include three small cul-de-sacs; Morgan Place, Suffolk Court, and George Court.
• Work will also include dozens of sidewalk access ramps throughout the project in order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
• This project is primarily intended to repair the street pavement. It is not adding new traffic features.

Business Access During Construction? Yes
Traffic Impacts:

• Drivers should expect road closures and detours during construction.
• Pedestrians should expect sidewalk detours during the sidewalk ramp work at the intersections.
• Bicyclists on Harlow Road may need to merge with motor vehicle traffic during certain sidewalk work.
• With any construction, drivers should expect equipment and workers in the roadway leading to congestion and delays during the work.

Work Schedule:

• This project is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2017.
• Prior to the start of street construction, the City’s arborists may be on-site trimming trees to prevent overhead limbs from being damaged by construction equipment.
• Also prior to construction, utility companies (water, electricity, gas) may be on-site adjusting their facilities in order to avoid conflicts with the work and prevent damage to their facilities.

Funding:

• The major source of funding is the Pavement Bond Measure passed by voters in 2012.
• The overlay of the three cul-de-sacs will be funded by local gas tax revenues.
